Programming and girls – this is to some extent still an unfamiliar combination for many people. At Scout24, we are working towards making that picture more familiar by encouraging diversity in IT. Last weekend (27-28.01.2017), we were happy to host the wonderful Django Girls Munich workshop where women use Python and Django to program their own web blog within a single day.
The focus and dedication shown by each one and everyone was phenomenal; the Django Girls workshop was one of the purest geek experiences from the atmosphere, flow, and commitment of our coders. In fact, it was actually quite hard to get our 35 participants away from their laptops and grab some food.
All participants had to struggle with the difficult problems of getting the code running for the first time ever; still, they worked through it and got their blogs up and running. And we all have to admit : experiencing the satisfaction of having hand-crafted your own piece of software that runs your very own blog is the kind of achievement that got us all hooked on software development. We hope that our Django Girl participants caught a glimpse of the manifold wonders and great moments of crafting code and will stay in love with programming!
